Derrick Ross is a former major league baseball scout who has an intense passion for the game. With more than 15 years’ experience identifying the physical and mental tools needed for an athlete to play Major League baseball, his career has been steeped in baseball operations and professional scouting. He has worked with both the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Indians and has hundreds of connections to college coaches, professional scouts, pro coaches and front office executives that he utilizes to advise players. In his most recent scouting role, he served as upper Midwest supervisor, overseeing a 22-state territory and five area scouts. During his tenure with the Indians and Tigers, he was deeply involved in the drafting of more than 70 players from his region, a large percentage of whom have signed, and are either in the Majors or playing in the Minors. Derrick also spent one year onsite at University of Michigan in baseball operations. As the owner of Pivotal Sports Management, he advises professional athletes both pre- and post-draft as well as helps young aspiring athletes get appropriately placed at college universities. In addition, Derrick’s love and knowledge of the game has enabled him an opportunity to provide on-air analysis for Fox Sports Detroit’s Tigers pre-game show.
